In the decades before the First World War, which are sometimes characterized as a period of rising antagonism, cooperation continued in many fields. Some chapters even show that processes of globalization, which can be identified in the age of ‘high imperialism’, had a stronger impact on Anglo-German scholarly networking than the political hostilities between the two countries.
